Fan Clutches
Fan clutches are commonly used in commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses to reduce noise and improve engine fuel consumption. The noise and fuel benefits are achieved by turning the fan on and off as required by the engine cooling system.
In partnership with Kendroin, InnoTherm offers a range of 2 speed fan clutches that offer greater efficiencies and benefits than traditional on-off and viscous fan clutches.
Electromagnetic
- No contact between moving part in speed one extends clutch life
- Reduces parasitic horsepower and improves fuel economy.
- Improved cooling system performance
- Reduces "Thermo Stress" on charge air coolers
- Reduces under hood temperature
- Improves A/C system
- Full lock up provides increased cooling capacity
- No Oil to leak out or over heat providing longer clutch life
- Improved fuel economy
- Controlling by engine ECM improves cooling system performance
- Improved A/C performance
Pneumatic
- Reduce noise - speed one provides required cooling with less fan speed and noise
- Unlimited Intermediate Speed - Unlike a viscous clutch can run in speed one as long as needed without damaging the clutch.
- Maintains the Torque - through out liner life, others lose up to 20%
- Twice the Torque Capacity - In speed one reducing full engagements
- In speed one reducing full engagements
- Long Fan Clutch Life - No contact between moving parts in speed one and fewer fan clutch engagements extends clutch life
- Increase Belt Life - shifting between speed one to full engagement creates less belt shock and load
- Increase Belt Tensioner Life - Shifting between speed one to full engagement creates less belt shock and load
- Increase Fuel Savings - Speed one provides required cooling with less parasitic horse power.
